Pearl

Laramide District, Arizona

Summary

The Pearl project is located in the Laramide porphyry copper district in Arizona.  Nearby significant mines and large copper deposits include Resolution and Superior East (Rio Tinto/BHP), Pinto Valley (Capstone Mining), Carlota (KGHM International), Ray (ASARCO), San Manuel-Kalamazoo (BHP) and Florence (Taseko).

The Pearl project is located immediately northwest of the past-producing San Manuel porphyry copper mine (BHP) and consists of 241 lode mining claims.  The property adjoins Freeport claims to the east, and is characterized by a large zone of alteration (chlorite-epidote+/-sericite) measuring at least 850 metres by 750 metres. Proterozoic granite and diabase cut by porphyry dikes are exposed on the property which is similar to the geological setting at San Manuel. Epithermal-style showings on the property are widespread with up to 3.8% copper at surface with approximately 680 metres of strike length.  Porphyry deposits occur in clusters and the exploration concept is to seek a tilted copper system with high hypogene grades, much like the San Manuel-Kalamazoo mine.
